Exceptional Day Nursery
Day Nursery Northwich, Cheshire
Little Weavers is a magical place for children to learn, grow and play. Our wonderful outdoor space is tree lined for privacy and offers exciting opportunities for children to explore. Come and see inside our custom made play houses, plant and watch the vegetables grow in our planting areas or climb, swing, slide and cycle all day long.
Located just near the Davenham roundabout with easy transport links to Chester, Manchester, Liverpool and beyond. Our children also benefit from nearby parks, play areas and duck ponds within walking distance and we’re also lucky enough to be able to get the bus to the library from just outside nursery.
Home From Home
We care for children from 3 months up to 5 years old and aim to be a “home from home”. The children are part of our family right from when they join us, up until they leave to take the next step in their educational journey. Our curriculum provides a variety of learning opportunities to meet the needs of individual children with a particular emphasis on children enjoying the outdoors.
Who We Are
Heathfield House & Little Weavers Day Nurseries and Pre Schools are family run by Lisa and Natasha Kirkwood. They were passionate about children being cared for in a setting which emulated the home, with family values and a love of the outdoors at the heart of their ethos.
Heathfield House, originally just a 16 place nursery was Lisa’s first setting. Over the years it’s expanded to cater for the growing demand for childcare in Birchwood and the surrounding areas. Her daughter Natasha, often helped out at nursery whilst still at secondary school, and during her years studying for a BA in Childhood Studies. Once completed, the mother and daughter duo opened a second setting, Little Weavers Day Nursery in Northwich.
In recent years, Natasha’s daughters have joined the nursery. As Customer Experience Officers they ensure they personally field test all the rooms, resources and our delicious menu’s before recommending them to their friends in the Pre School and Baby room!
How We Learn
We aim to provide a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere for all children, their families, friends, staff and visitors. Our curriculum provides learning situations to meet the needs of individual children whilst giving equal opportunity for all children. The children are encouraged to respect the feelings, beliefs and cultures of others and activities are planned to acknowledge and celebrate a range of religious and cultural festivals throughout the year. Although our activities have a degree of structure, our approach is flexible and is tailored to suit the needs of each individual child. We also aim to provide an atmosphere where parents and guardians are involved in nursery life and social events.
We hold regular parents evenings to discuss children’s progress and have an open door policy so parents can speak to staff or management at any time.
We like to ensure parents play an active role in their child’s development. Once your child finishes Pre School with us, we pass on this Learning Journey to your child’s school. The Learning Journey contains observations and photographs, and despite being and important insight into your child’s development, it is also a lovely diary of all the activities and happy memories created whilst in our care.
Early Years Foundation Stage
EYFS is the framework that guides the care and education of children from the age of 0 to the end of their 5th year
How We Grow
All children’s learning is through play-based activities.
At Little Weavers, all children’s learning is through play based activities from exploring the weather by jumping in muddy puddles to designing the tallest tower in our construction area. Whilst your child is with us they will enjoy getting messy with different sensory experiences – dough, gloop, water play, sand, glue, baking and painting. We provide lots of real resources for children to explore and play with and our little ones often bring exciting and intriguing items in from their weekend adventures to talk about at circle times. Our children participate regularly in yoga, dance and PE sessions, we feel it’s important to ensure they are active on a daily basis.
Our objective is to provide a setting in which children can develop their physical, emotional, social, intellectual and creative skills. We encourage children to develop meaningful relationships with staff and peers and we aim to provide an environment where children feel comfortable, safe and happy to attend. The nursery is based around a timetable of events and routines which children can enjoy and can quickly become familiar with.
