Westfield House has its origins starting as a childminders within a family home, with demand seeing it flourish organically into a thriving nursery still within a homely setting. The setting and team have gradually evolved over the years but always with the ethos of retaining a homely and nurturing environment.

At Westfield House Childcare, our vision is to provide a homely, enabling environment where children can flourish as individuals. Through positive, supportive relationships, we encourage each child to develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Our house and garden are carefully risk-assessed and checked daily, and comprehensive policies and procedures ensure your child’s health and welfare are prioritised at all times.

At Westfield House, our team is driven by dedication, passion, and a genuine love for working with children. Every member brings their own unique skills, talents, and experiences, creating a nurturing, supportive, and family-like atmosphere. Many of our staff have been part of the Westfield House family for over twelve years, providing continuity and familiarity that children and parents can trust.
All staff are fully DBS checked, first aid trained, and qualified to care for children across all ages and stages. We are committed to ongoing professional development, attending courses, training, and regular meetings to ensure knowledge and skills are always up to date. While our facilities are welcoming and inspiring, it is our team who make Westfield House truly special. Our staff are carefully selected because working with children is not just a job — it is their vocation, their passion, and their commitment to nurturing confident, happy, and curious young learners.

our learning
At Westfield House, we care for children aged 0–5 years, providing a rich and stimulating environment where every child can play, explore, and grow. We believe children learn best when they are active, curious, and engaged — and our approach encourages them to think critically, make choices, and follow their own interests.
Our curriculum has been carefully developed by our Nursery Manager, who is a qualified teacher (QTS), drawing on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the latest research on child development. It is designed to support all ages and stages, ensuring children develop communication and language skills, learn how to be ready for the next stage of learning, and grow in independence, self-awareness, and respect for themselves, others, and the wider world.
Each day is carefully balanced: while we maintain routines for meals, naps, and wellbeing, children enjoy varied opportunities for play, exploration, and discovery. All our rooms follow a consistent approach, combining ‘child interest’ and ‘in the moment’ learning with focused activities designed to spark wonder and awe. Every area of development is thoughtfully supported, ensuring children grow holistically, confidently, and with a strong sense of themselves and others.

Various Activities
For our preschool children, learning is further enriched through a range of activities that develop essential life skills. This includes Forest School sessions, as well as specialist sessions led by outside providers such as yoga and science. These experiences help children build confidence, independence, and resilience, develop strong social skills, form meaningful friendships, and prepare effectively for school readiness, all while fostering a love of learning and respect for the natural world.
Through this combination of freedom, guidance, and enrichment, children are supported to work towards the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) goals, building strong foundations for lifelong learning.
