The Benefits of Government Childcare Funding at Heathfield House
At Heathfield House, we believe that every child deserves the best start in life, and we’re dedicated to providing high-quality early education and care. There are several funding schemes available, each designed to support families with different needs. At Heathfield House, we can assist you in understanding these options and determining your eligibility, ensuring you can make the most of the support available.
Early Years Entitlement
Starting from September 2025, eligible working parents can access up to 30 hours a week of funded childcare, across 38 weeks of the year. To start claiming your funding hours from September 2025 your child must have turned 9 months of age on or prior to 31st of August 2025. Eligibility codes must be obtained prior to 31st August and be valid on the 1st September, to qualify for a funded place from September 2025. Applications for eligibility are through HMRC via a Childcare Account through the Government Gateway.
Early years funding always starts the term following the child turning of eligible age. It is not possible to apply for the working parent entitlement in the same term you wish to start. Funding can only be accessed from the start of a term.
Details of how to apply, check eligibility and obtain your code, can be found using the following link: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk Once you have received your code you must reconfirm your eligibility every 3 months with HMRC to continue to be able to claim the funding. If you do not re-confirm every 3 months you will lose your entitlement.
It is the parent’s responsibility to reconfirm their eligibility every 3 months. Failure to do so will result in the entitlement ending and you paying for any hours used at our private rate. Depending on when you first apply, you may find you need to reconfirm your eligibility before your child starts accessing a funded place.

Working Parent Entitlements From
9 Months to 4 years
Eligible working parents can access up to 30 hours a week of funded childcare, across 38 weeks (term time) of the year, to a maximum of 1140 hours. Parents must obtain an eligibility code from HMRC through the government gateway.
Here at Heathfield House Day Nursery we are open 51 weeks of the year and for ease of budgeting purposes and to make the entitlement more suited to working parents, we provide the early years entitlements over the same number of weeks. This gives you slightly less hours per week but over more weeks of the year. This is known as stretching. For children entitled to 30 hours offers from September, this gives you 22.35 hours per week.
The working parent entitlements are set up to be as seamless as possible for you to move through the different entitlements. Once you have applied for one, and subject to you continuing to reconfirm your eligibility on time, you only need to apply for the first entitlement as you use the same eligibility code across the subsequent ones.
Early Years Funding
Sessions
Early years funding is offered to families accessing full days, we are unable to offer funding on half day sessions only.
We offer a maximum of 7.5 hours of early years funding to be claimed in any one day, between the hours of 10:30am and 6pm. If your child attends less than 3 days a week, you will not be able to claim your full entitlement with Heathfield House Day Nursery. For parents wishing to access a full day of childcare they are able to pay our hourly rate of £8 per hour for the additional 2.5 or 2.65 hours in the day which enables your child to attend from 8am.
Government funding is not intended to cover the cost of meals and snacks. Here at Heathfield House, there is a charge of £7.00 daily. If parents prefer to not pay this fee, they can bring a packed lunch which must align with the nursery’s “Nutrition and Meal time Policy” which is available upon request and can be viewed on the parent’s information board in nursery.
2 Year Old Funding
For Families Receiving Additional Government Support
For those parents who are in employment and eligible to this entitlement and the working parent entitlement for children from 9 months, it is possible to apply for the two entitlements and use a maximum of 30 hours across both. The added benefit of doing this is that you only have to reconfirm with HMRC for 15 hours, not 30.
For the initial 15 hours that is linked to receiving additional government support, families apply directly to Warrington Borough Council at www.warrington.gov.uk/twoyearfunding

For parents that can claim this type of 2-year funding, , a 38-week contract may be possible (school terms according to Warrington Borough Council term dates). The government funding is not intended to cover meals and snacks. For convenience, if you would like us to provide these there is a charge of £7 for morning sessions (including breakfast and lunch) or £2 for afternoon sessions (afternoon tea only). If parents prefer not to pay for the meals and snacks, they can bring a packed lunch as outlined in our ‘Nutrition and Meal time Policy’.
3 & 4 Year Olds
Universal Offer
All three- and four-year-olds, regardless of family circumstances, are entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare through the universal entitlement. Working parents of three- and four-year-olds, if eligible, may also apply for an additional 15 extended hours of funded childcare.
3 & 4 Year Old
Funded Term Time Attendance (ONLY)
We do offer some funded places over term time. These are designed for our families who previously accessed funding as a 2 year with additional government support. Please contact the nursery to discuss the availability. The 38 weeks are set out in school terms according to Warrington Borough Council. These dates cannot be adjusted to suit any other school term dates. The maximum of 15 funded hours can be taken over a week, the days and hours must be agreed with the nursery and set for the full term. These places are limited and must be confirmed with the manager prior to the child starting the funded place.
Meal and snacks are not included in the funded hours therefore there is a charge of £2.00 for breakfast, £5.00 for lunch and £2.00 for afternoon tea. If parents prefer not to pay for the meals and snacks, they can bring a packed lunch which must align with our ‘Nutrition and Meal time Policy’ which is attached and can also be viewed in nursery.
If you change settings part way through the term you may not be able to claim your free Early Years Entitlement and you may incur a charge at the new setting.
You are requested by the nursery to sign a parental contract to allow the nursery to claim the entitlement on your behalf, when you are happy you understand the content within it.

You can claim your entitlement over a maximum of 3 settings, on any one day, of which, can be over no more than 2 sites, plus you must not exceed the maximum of 15 or 30 hours (or equivalent if stretching) between both settings.
