When your child joins us, we are very careful to build up a picture of them and their interests right from the beginning. This feeds into our child-centric approach. We treat every child as an individual, and their learning is specifically tailored around their interests. For example, if your child shows an interest in volcanoes, we will go to great lengths to create play-led activities which stimulate their imagination and spark their curiosity around that interest.

Wherever your child wants to go with an interest, the staff will take them on a journey. Interests evolve and change over time, and we recognise that as your child moves through the setting and support them as necessary to grow and learn in all directions.

What we don’t do is babysit. Our staff pour care and effort into every activity day after day. Our goal is to create a lifelong love of learning and everything we do has intent behind it. We are building connections with our local community. The children visit the library almost every week, they go for walks in the park, and they visit the residents at St. Mary’s Care Home and spend time with them singing and playing. We also have regular sing and sign sessions from a visiting group, which the children love and are deeply engaged with. At Christmas, we participate in the Advent Windows throughout the town centre, and the older children take part in Remembrance Day.

Our staff come from diverse backgrounds. We have staff from Italy, Portugal and South Asia. They all bring a love for different cultures, and they build this into the children’s activities. We celebrate Diwali and Lunar New Year amongst others, as well as the traditional European festivals, so that the children’s horizons are broadened.

We cater for children from all backgrounds and cultures, and with that we seamlessly integrate their dietary and allergen requirements. As the children grow older, we start to introduce more activities to become school ready, but still completely based around their interests. Transitions through the setting are managed at a pace dictated by each child and we treat each child as an individual, only moving them to the next group when they are ready.
