This half term we have been learning about Communities. Our word of the week was visit, so we got out and about in our local area, including a trip to the library for a rhyme time session and a local park. On Tuesday, a group of our oldest children visited the Carshalton War Memorial with one of our preschool friends, a former soldier whose grandad’s name is remembered there.

The children listened carefully as we talked about remembrance and why poppies are special. They showed kindness and respect, standing quietly to mark the silence and honour those who served.

It was a gentle and meaningful moment, helping even our youngest learners begin to understand gratitude, bravery, and peace.
