Your child will never grow faster than in their first five years of life.
Children are natural learners from birth and the years before school are when they develop their skills the fastest. We know that your child can’t miss out at this vital time, so we work to help them reach their full potential as they learn and grow.
Each child will learn and develop differently, so your child’s key person will monitor their progress and use their unique interests, strengths and weaknesses to tailor their learning around them. We believe in learning through play and your child will develop new skills as they engage in fun activities with their friends.
Supporting your child's development
- We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, published by the Department for Education. The Framework looks to promote development in seven areas of learning.
We focus on the following areas of development:
- Personal, social and emotional development.
- Physical development.
- Communication and language.
- Literacy.
- Mathematics.
- Understanding the world.
- Expressive art and design.
Parents love our nursery's home-from-home environment, which provides an atmosphere conducive to learning. Our friendly team create a supportive and nurturing setting which helps children to feel comfortable as they try new things and develop their skills.
Our friendly team are childcare professionals, with years of experience in supporting your child's development. We promote continuous training, so that your child's key person will know the latest best practice to help your child grow.
We have a longstanding team, who can follow your child's progress through the nursery and tailor activities based on their development.
Learning doesn't stop when you pick up your child and we believe in building a shared approach to their development.
Our team will build a strong relationship with you so that we can share information both ways. This will help us to tailor activities for your child, to help them reach their full potential.
Meals and Nutrition
Delicious home-cooked meals to help your child grow
We prioritize your child’s health by providing nutritious, freshly prepared meals that follow the latest early years dietary guidelines. Our seasonal, rotating menus are crafted using the Eat Better, Do Better guidance, ensuring each meal supports development with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Meals include no added salt, minimal sugar, and at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily.
Our friendly team will work with you so that we can adapt to follow the home feeding routine of younger children. When you feel that your child is ready, we will fully cooperate during the weaning process.
Babies moving onto solids are offered foods such as pureed vegetables before being gradually introduced to other flavours. They will eventually begin eating modified versions of the main meal eaten by the older children each day.
We treat mealtimes as a social occasion and your child will sit at the table with their friends, developing their communication skills.
Mealtimes are also used to develop your child's independence, with older children serving their own food and drinks. Staff are always on hand to support children as they eat.
We also know that your child will be more likely to try different foods when eating with their friends. So we use mealtimes as an opportunity to introduce foods that your child might be reluctant to try at home.
We will always cooperate with you to meet your child's dietary requirements. A vegetarian alternative is prepared each day as standard and we will also adapt meals to suit your child's needs as necessary.
Milk and healthy snacks are served mid-morning and mid-afternoon. We will support older children to make the decision about when they would like their snack.
Snacks vary each day and include options like vegetable sticks, fruit or rice cakes.
Our team will know your child's dietary needs and we will work closely with you so that we are aware of any intolerances.
Outdoor play
- Our large, outdoor play area is a hidden gem in the heart of Melton.
Parents are often surprised at the size of our large outdoor play area, which your child can enjoy throughout the day. Each room is directly connected to the outside area, so that your child can choose whether they want to play indoors or outdoors.
Our outdoor area is completely secured and staff are always on hand to support and supervise outdoor activities.
Why Parents Love Our Outdoor Play Area
We know that some children prefer to learn outside, so the outdoor area is designed to provide the same opportunities for growth as inside the nursery.
Our staff will run activities based around your child's developmental needs - for example, counting natural materials to support numeracy or running an obstacle course to develop motor skills.
The outdoor area has a huge range of activities and equipment that your child will enjoy playing with. It is designed so that they can develop different skills and provides options to suit their interests. A few examples include:
Climbing frame and bikes - to help support their motor and physical skills
Mud kitchen - to develop their imagination with friends
Musical area - instruments allow them to explore creativity
Vegetable garden - to help them learn about the natural world around them
Our Baby Unit has a separate, dedicated garden for our younger children to play in. Directly connected to these rooms, this space provides an opportunity for those children to play in a calmer area.
This area looks just like a family garden, help your child to feel comfortable learning and playing outdoors at nursery. It includes a range of games and activities suited to their age group
Partnership with parents
- We want to build a strong relationship with you so that we can support your child's development together.
We know that your child doesn’t stop developing new skills when they leave nursery each day, so we work closely with you to ensure continuity between nursery and home life. Our friendly team will build a relationship with you so that we know what makes your child unique – allowing us to provide the best possible care, tailored to their needs.
We make time to talk to you, to discuss what your child has been doing each day and how they are progressing. We are always keen to hear what your child has been doing at home so that we can design activities to complement this.
Alongside the daily communication between parents and staff, we hold various events throughout the year – such as parents evenings and social family events. We also welcome feedback and suggestions from parents, who are always able to speak to the management team.
Our friendly team will build a strong relationship with you so that we can better care for your child at nursery. We will always tell you about your child's day and keep you updated with how they are progressing.
We are always interested to hear about anything your child has done at home and we will use this to design activities based around them and their needs.
Our experienced team are always happy to discuss any issues that you might be having with your child at home.
Within the nursery, your main point of contact will be your child's key person. They will get to know what makes your child unique - understanding their interests, strengths and weaknesses. They will track your child's progress in nursery and plan activities based around them.
The key person will also be supported by a buddy - this is another member of staff within the room who is able to step in for the key person if they are away. This means that there is always someone on hand who knows about your child's development.
Alongside updates from our friendly team, you can also get information about your child using the Famly online app. Accessed on your phone, tablet or computer, you will have your own secure login to access updates about your child.
We update the app in real time, so you can see information such as whether your child has slept and what they have eaten. You will also be able to see photos of the activities from your child's room.
Your secure account is password protected and you have control over who can access the information.
