Settling In
We know that starting nursery is a big transition. That’s why we offer a gentle settling-in period, where you and your child can spend time with us together before moving towards short independent sessions. Your child will be introduced gradually to their Key Person, who provides a secure base for building trust, confidence, and routine.
Key Person Approach
Each child is assigned a dedicated Key Person. This member of staff will:
- Build a strong bond with your child
- Understand their individual needs, likes, and interests
- Share regular updates and progress with you
- Ensure a smooth handover at drop-off and pick-up.
This approach helps children feel secure while supporting their learning and development.
Learning & Development
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on learning through play, exploration, and creativity. We balance indoor and outdoor learning, with access to our large private garden and soft play studio. Our curriculum covers:

Personal, social, and emotional growth
Expressive arts and design
Sparking creativity through art, music, role play, and imagination.

Meals & Nutrition
Healthy eating is a core part of our day. We provide:

Menus are shared with parents, and we encourage healthy food habits from an early age.

FEES
Waiting List Fee – £40.00
If you accept a space, this is deducted from your initial invoice.
If we can’t offer you a space, we provide a full refund. A member of the management team will contact you for your bank details.
However, if we offer you a space and you decline, we retain this fee.
Registration Fee – £175.00
This is deducted from your final invoice.

Yes, we charge the full rate for all Bank Holidays.
Do I need to pay for holiday periods?
Can I swap my days?
You are unable to change your booking pattern each week/month. However, you can request an additional session.
Do the children have access to a garden?
Do you offer funded places?
Yes, we offer 30 hours funding during term time, 38 weeks per year. This applies to all eligible families whose child is 9 months, plus. It is your responsibility to provide your eligibility code via email to the Early Years Manager.
The term after your child’s 3rd birthday you receive 15 free hours per week, 38 weeks per year. This applies even if you do not meet the eligibility criteria for 30 free hours.
In addition, we offer 15 hours per week, 38 weeks per year to families with 2-year-olds if they are on qualifying benefits, such as Universal Credit, or receive support through the Immigration and Asylum Act. You can check your eligibility through the GOV.UK website. Your local council will provide an eligibility code., which you need to provide us with.

What are the ratios of adults to children?
The current ratio as stipulated in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2025 is:
Under 2’s-1:3, 2–3-year-olds-1:5. 3–5-year-olds-1:8
Do you close for training days?

What qualifications do your nursery staff hold?
Do you accept childcare vouchers?
Yes, we accept childcare vouchers from many providers, we will also accept payment through the Tax Free Childcare scheme from HMRC
Please speak to the Manager if you intend to use vouchers or the tax-free option.
How do I know about my child’s daily routine?
At the end of the day, your child’s key person will feed back information about your child’s day. Their key person will feed back information about activities and experiences that your child has participated in.
If the key person is not available, another member of the team will be available to share information with you.
There is also a daily sheet which lists what your child has eaten, nappy changes and sleep times.
If I pay an additional fee, can I drop my children earlier than 8.00, collect my children later than 18.00?
We only accept children between the hours of 8.00-18.00
How do you inform families about children’s development?
We have a secure online journal to help record all the learning and fun of your child’s early years education, Nursery in a Box. Your child’s key person will send you photographs and observations each week under the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage 2025
This will build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.
Each child has an individual Learning Journal; this is only accessible to their family members.
This is in addition to ‘Settling-in’ reports undertaken between 6-8 weeks after a child starts, 2-year progress checks, transition reports undertaken when a child transitions from one room into another room, and full reports discussed at parents’ evenings twice a year.
How do I know my child will be kept safe?
Safeguarding is of paramount importance to us. All staff complete safeguarding training every two years. And complete online training covering FGM, Child Sexual Exploitation etc
The setting has a Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads who audits all safeguarding procedures. If you have any concerns or issues, then please speak with the Early Years Manager in the first instance.
We have a secure entry system, only staff can unlock the door from the inside. If a person is unknown to members of staff, they cannot enter the premises. Unauthorised personnel cannot enter the setting.
A register is taken during each session and intervals throughout the day each room conducts head counts.
Do you accept children on a term time basis?

How do I receive my monthly invoice?
Invoices will be automatically sent to your personal email address on the 15 of each month’ for the following month.
We have a nursery admin tool ‘Nursery in a Box’. Once your child starts the setting the Early Years Manager will forward you details in relation to registering your details.
Other parents cannot see your personal details. Your login details will be unique to you.
Do I have to settle my child into the setting?
Yes, the minimum period is 2 weeks. This is a gradual process, and the first 5 sessions are free. Additional sessions will be charged at an hourly rate. Depending on the number of hours’ your child attends each day.
Settling-in is a very important process, it allows your child to form relationships with their peer group/practitioners, get used to their new surroundings and gradually come to accept their detachment from you.
Do you offer home visits?
All families are offered a home visit by their child’s key person prior to commencing their settling in period.
The aim is to build stronger relationships between practitioners and families, help children settle into their new environment more easily, and gather vital information about children’s interests and home life to better support their learning and development. This is just the beginning of establishing a collaborative partnership whilst children are at Jumpers!
