When we talk about “school readiness,” it’s easy to think of ABCs and 123s, but real school readiness goes much deeper. At Daisy Chains Nursery, we believe that a confident, curious, and emotionally secure child is best prepared for their next big step.
So… what does school readiness really mean?
Emotional Confidence
A child who can express their needs, manage emotions, and feel secure in a new environment is far more ready to learn. We focus on helping children recognise feelings, develop resilience, and build friendships, because emotional wellbeing is the foundation for future success.
Independence Skills
Can your child put on their coat, tidy up after snack, or ask for help? These simple self-help skills are key to thriving in Reception. Our preschool routines gently encourage independence every day, from choosing their own resources to managing transitions confidently.
Early Learning Foundations
Through playful activities in our literacy, numeracy, and STEM zones, children develop pre-reading and early math skills. But more importantly, they grow to love learning and that spark is what truly prepares them for school.
Social Readiness
Taking turns, working in a group, listening to others these skills are just as important as writing your name. Group play, circle time, and collaborative learning help children develop empathy and social confidence.
At Daisy Chains Nursery, school readiness means nurturing the whole child. We meet them where they are, and help them bloom in their own beautiful way.
